Whether you still haven’t full winterized or whether you just want to make sure you do it right next year, here are some things that you should do in preparation of the cold winter months.
One of the things you should do is cut perennials back to soil level and remove debris to the compost pile. You also might want to consider splitting perennials that have begun to overgrow their placement and also remove annual plantings in the landscape. Before it snows and frost is ready to stay a long while, add a layer of mulch or some other organic material to plantings to help conserve moisture and protect the root systems. Set your mower height to cut your grass at two and a half inches. Remove all debris such as leaves and dead plant matter to prevent the spread of fungi that can infect new leaf tissue in the coming spring.
So if you are in the Potomac area and surrounding towns, call us today at 301-972-5681 so we can take care of your landscape maintenance. We can get you set up on a lawn-care schedule that fits your needs and will keep your landscape looking great.
