I’M DONE WITH THE HILL
“What do you mean you’re done with the hill?” asks Emma.
Shane wipes sweat from his forehead. He pours himself some water and chugs it down before continuing. “We need some sort of stairs for our backyard. That hill out there is a killer.”
Emma frowns and nods. “Yeah, now that you mention it, it really is. Some nice stone stairs leading up and down it would be perfect! Great idea, hon.” Shane puts a thumb up as he finishes catching his breath.
“Let’s look for some stone stairs pictures on Google, like when we were looking at pictures of hardscape projects near us. It’d be great if we could find some on a contractor’s gallery page or blog. Then we’d have ideas and a contractor who could do them! Two birds, one stone,” laughs Emma as she sits next to Shane. She takes out her phone and starts searching as Shane looks on.
After some digging, here are a few of their favorite stone step designs:
TYPES OF STONE STAIRS
You can choose from a few different styles of stone stairs. They include natural stone, paver, and stacked stairs. There are other styles besides these three main ones as well. Each one brings a unique look to any yard.
NATURAL STONE STEPS
These stairs are made from larger, flat boulders. They can be attached or they can have space between them. It’s up to which style you prefer!
PAVER STONE STAIRS
These are the same ones used to make paver patios. You can use them to create fun and unique designs for your landscape.
STACKED STONE STEPS
They are exactly how they sound. These types of stairs for landscapes look like they have stone stacked beneath them. They can have the same look on the top part of each stair or they can have flat tile stones on top.

“Now we just need to choose a style,” says Emma. Shane shrugs. “We can do that, or how about we look at what else we can find about landscaping?”
